A business operations and process enthusiast with a bias for action who thrives on enhancing communication and ensuring alignment and enablement to support early-stage startup teams. Prior to joining the startup world, Scott spent over a decade working in collegiate athletics. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, staying active with his wife and dog, reading entrepreneur biographies, rooting for the Terps, and all things Pittsburgh, and serving as a mentor through TheClubhouse and the SJU Undergraduate Mentorship program.

I am a problem-solver who thrives on cross-functional execution. I focus on bringing solutions and believe that it's important to ensure alignment by being an owner, seeking insights (good and bad) and synthesizing information into easily digestible explanations.

In working with oAT, in addition to day-to-day collective operations, Scott supports sales operations including multiple campaigns from lead list generation, CRM pipeline management, and scripting. He actively supports partnership initiatives, including 10+ “tool-time” sessions and varying co-branded opportunities. He also oversees the publication of a weekly newsletter with 50+ issues and an average open rates around 70%.

SalesOps is an area where I’ve really gotten to flex my generalist skills. Focusing on communication and organization has allowed me to not only support the organization executionally, but I’ve appreciated the strategic angles to experiment and iterate quickly on new approaches.

Scott worked in Division I collegiate athletic compliance for over a decade. That role can sometimes be viewed as the “police” or the enforcer of the NCAA rulebook. However, the coaches that Scott worked with viewed him as an asset. Rather than an impediment, Scott was able to problem-solve helping them strategically get from point A to point B, within the rules, and find that sliver of a competitive advantage - whether in recruiting, operationally, or financially - that can make all the difference.

By leaning on my problem-solving and communication skills, I was viewed as an asset, strategically and creatively helping coaches, administrators, and student-athletes to solve their problems and find the slightest edge that made a difference in the wins and loss column. Beyond that, my background in sports management allowed me to hone my problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills while making senior-level operational and strategic decisions with considerable risk and visibility.

Scott works best when he supports and serves others. He has a knack for connecting people, processes, and tools in a manner that is clear and organized. He moves the needle with strong organization and communication and excels at working cross-functionally throughout the organization. He can get up to speed quickly and is apt at jumping in to fill operational gaps. Scott is a people person and enjoys helping others solve problems to unlock success. He seeks out mission-driven work and excels when provided with the opportunity to bring internal and external teammates together to support the organization.

In a past role, we had one key partnership with a major, public company. The relationship had turned sour due to poor communication and organization. I was tasked with fixing the relationship by focusing on transparent, clear communication which set the stage for an ongoing, fruitful partnership.

Scott has an aptitude for problem-solving with the ability to break down and simplify problems into actionable objectives, manage complex processes, and provide value to cross-functional teams with an emphasis on action.

I view customer service as a growth driver for a business and believe in overdelivering. In a prior role, I noticed that our customer service was inconsistent at best and was costing us customers. In addition to standardizing our approach and implementing SOPs, I engaged with some key customers who had negative experiences to humanize to our operations which brought them back to the company.
